Just Another Saturday
This recently acquired Death box now houses the first three Death albums, and was ordered directly from Drag City. A fourth album came out last year, that, unfortunately, won’t fit into this box, but is currently in the mail. If you haven’t, be sure to check out the feature length documentary on this iconic Detroit proto-punk band titled, A Band Called Death. Cheers.

Oops… forgot to hit send last night… please forgive the lateness of yesterday’s post. Fundue fondue at the table, with the new Mrs Magician album, Bermuda spinning on the hi-fi makes for quite the enjoyable evening. I highly recommend both fondue, AND Mrs Magician. Happy Friday, kids!
Passin’
If you couldn’t tell, we’ve been on a bit of a Pharcyde kick these past few days. Remixes, singles, bootlegs, and of course, this reissued Passin’ Me By single from 2012. Number four of seven, this gold (yellow) vinyl version contains both the single version of the the track, as well as the acapella for, you know, your future weekend hip-hop beat-making ventures.
If you see this box set at your brick & mortar (The Singles Collection), don’t let it pass you by.
Ya Mama 2.0
Next in line in The Pharcyde Singles Collection is another Ya Mama pair, but this time of the J-Swift persuasion. Remix on side A, and an instrumental on side B, this 2nd in line (of 7) maintains the rambunctious bursts from yesterday’s starter, but ups the ante in terms of initial productivity. 7 records, kids… long live The Pharcyde.
Sunday Morning Soundtrack
Decided against the turntable this camping round, and instead charged all things digital. We were afforded the opportunity for coffee (breakfast), and The Beatles, and we had to take it. Camping playlist to come. Happy Sunday.
Essential Reading Material
When camping, I find a good book helps to set the calming, relaxing, slow-paced vibe of living like a pampered homeless person. I just cracked open NOFX’s The Hepatitis Bathtub and Other Stories, and it’s absolutely, without question, batshit crazy… in the best, possible sense of the term. Anyway, no records this round. Just ZZ Top’s first album over the iPod, good company, and random-ass NOFX stories. Life is good.
Goldrush
In Switzerland, millionaire industrialists join electro-pop, synth-jazz bands and release inspirational 80’s masterpieces. Case in point, 1987’s One Second from Yello. While the album may be most notable for its inclusion of the 1985 romp Oh Yeah, it’s Goldrush that’s really a chief standout. For a good, non-Ferris Bueller examples of Yello, have a watch at the below video for Goldrush. Remember, this is 1987 Switzerland, and mainstream pop for Mercury Records circa: 1987. Oh yeah, enjoy.

Burn, Berlin, Burn!
This Atari Teenage Riot double LP comp titled, Burn, Berlin, Burn! was my first introduction into the bat-shit-crazy world of breakbeat hardcore. It’s a fever-inducing, riotous collage of sound eager to invoke internal bleeding, and is perfect noise candy for Monday afternoons. Had it not been for Grand Royal, I likely would have never exposed myself to this brand of ear violence, but as it stands, great pleasure can derive from a certain amount of pain.
Blue < Pinkerton
Vinyl Me, Please‘s latest release, Weezer’s 1996 Pinkerton, is by far, the most prolific offering from the steadfast Weezer catalogue. Fools argue Blue is best, but those who know, favor Pinkerton. Why bother… indeed.

Lost within the Fringes
This morning, while laying on the floor, questioning life after a stupid run, I contemplated which record deemed worthy of the next spin. In my mind, I’m still laying on the floor… contemplating… happy Friday, kids.
Book 1
The secret ingredient inside the 2014 LP boxset by experimental-thrash-geniuses, Fantomas titled, Wunderkammer, contains the all-inclusive Mike Patton demo of the band’s first album… on cassette. She was digitized today, and let me be the first to tell you, it was no easy feat. Interweaving rhythmic bursts make for a significantly difficult editing session, but we were able to hammer out something of adequate sustenance. The results were well, well worth the frustration.
Dot Cakes
It’s been a while since we’ve showcased a legitimate insert. They’re hard to come by, I’ll have you know, but this one, with its magnificent 50’s inks, is something to squawk over.
Luau, Luau, Luau, Luau
So, let’s be honest here. A compilation album of majestic, Hawaiian-fused festivities is certainly something of a necessity, BUT… with tropical-minded recipes affixed to the back cover, well, that’s a record well worth acquiring.

This is a rule, not unlike a heart, in the process, that I annually break.
If “misery loves company” is the phrase, Nebraska is the exclamation point that immediately follows.

Is it weird that I’d rather house quarter of a brick of cheese than a thin slice of chocolate cake? I kind of feel my musical intake follows this same allusive guideline, in one form or another. Anyway, nothing to do with that, here is a picture of my latest 8-track snatch. $10 at a brick and mortar up in Ventura, County. She was purchased untested, but plays perfectly fine on the Hitachi home stereo system. This Friday was one for the books… more to come, when I have time. Happy listening weekend!
